Spring in the Flower Studio
We sat down with our resident florist, Mark Siredzuk, to get his thoughts on what’s blooming this season.

What is in season at the moment?
Anything with bulbs are coming into season. Think tulips and daffodils, muscari, fritillaries, ranunculus too. Look out for forsythias, anemones, and hellebores as well. Blossoms will be coming soon, we’re not quite there yet though!
What’s trending in the flower world?
Everyone is raving about wild flowers! They don’t last very long, but there you go. Another trend I love is using herbs in flower arrangements.
You recently travelled to Mexico. Did you find any inspiration while you were out there?
Interestingly I didn’t see too many flowers in Mexico, except for lots of bougainvillea growing outside on walls. And lots of agave, of course!
I must say, Mexico City had so many interesting trees and plants in the streets. It looked all very lush for a city that battles a lot of pollution. Almost every balcony has plants cascading down! We’re looking to incorporate more height and cascading plants in our floral archways this Spring, so these have been a source of inspiration.
Have you got any tips for creating the perfect flower arrangement at home this season?
Anyone and everyone who is interested in flowers should take a trip to the flower market in Nine Elms. Or Columbia Road Flower Market, for that matter! When you’re there, just buy one type of flower, such as a wrap of hyacinths or tulips. I always think a vase with one type of flower looks the most striking yet natural.
